I found out from The Providence Journal today that the Pawtucket Red Sox (aka The PawSox), the Triple-A affiliate of The Boston Red Sox are going move from Pawtucket to Providence, the largest and the capital city of Rhode Island and my hometown. They're going move to Providence around 2021. They're thinking of eventually changing the name from "The Pawtucket Red Sox" to "The Rhode Island Red Sox. The new PawSox stadium will be near the intersection of Dyer and Dorrance streets. I do remembered that they had planned of putting a stadium for the NFL team, The New England Patriots in Providence, Rhode Island during the 90's, but it didn't happened and probably never will. Some people hates and against the idea of The PawSox moving from The McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and think it's crazy. I know someone who hates the idea of The PawSox moving from McCoy Stadium, but don't mind if they've eventually its name to "The Rhode Island Red Sox" because it would represents the entire state of Rhode Island, not just the city of Pawtucket. Here's a link about the news on The PawSox moving to Providence. www.providencejournal.com/arti…

Sure!  While we're at it, let's convince our MASS neighbors to change the name of their name to MASS Red Sox, and in a sweeping move get people to understand that TF Green isn't in Providence but two boroughs away in WARWICK.  Hell, let's even teach the rest of the United States that there's more to Rhode Island than just Newport.

While not a sports fan and looking at the team name changes for MLB here: sportslistoftheday.com/2011/07…  perhaps the reason why I find myself confused as to today's team names is because the team presidents are changing them as whimsical and as I change an outfit for a date.

Perhaps a little less name changing and a little more tradition might be in order...  Then again, TF Green is in Warwick.  We could always maintain the name of the PawSox to keep up the fine tradition of confusing the rest of the world at how small our state actually is.
